We carry out all chimney repairs, from re-pointing the brickwork to re-bedding the chimney pots and securing the cowls.
We can also offer a chimney removal service, if required. So if you are considering having a loft conversion and do not use the current chimney then having the chimney taken down a level offers more roof space.
The chimney is the highest point on a roof and so takes the brunt of the weather. The mortar between the brickwork will, over time, crack and crumble due to the changeable weather conditions. This causes the chimney to become unstable and the worst scenerio is for the bricks to become loose and fall. This can affect the roof and anything below it at ground level.
A small re-pointing service of the chimney brickwork undertaken early will prevent a larger and more expensive job, if neglected.
We can offer a roof and chimney inspection to see if there are any problems.
Roof tiles need maintaining, so if you have any loose, missing or damaged tiles they need to be replaced. Rain water will fall from the roof and into the gutters, any missing or damaged tiles will allow for water ingress which is not ideal and can cause leaks. It is also a good idea to have moss etc. removed from roofs to stop the build up as this also allows for water to eventually penetrate the tiles and let water into the roof space.
In cases where the roof tiles are old and too many are damaged to consistently replace or be cost effective, then we can install a new roof, including laying a breathable roof membrane, new treated wooden battens as well as new roof tiles.
There options on the type of tile and the colour which will be dependant on the type of building that requires a new roof. We install a range of roof materials, from pitched to flat roofs.
We carry out repairs on roof valleys and also carry out full replacement of materials, it required.
When checking valleys on a roof, we look for any holes that may allow for leakage.
A common problem with valleys are blockages, i.e. a build up of dirt, leaves etc.
Cleaning the old materials away is a must for a professional repair/renew service.
A protective liner is required underneath the flashing/roof tiles.
Metal trays can be used to allow the rain water to flow.
Lead is also used for chimneys to prevent rain water from pooling, where it meets the roof.
